It was 10am on the 21st October when we first set foot in the convention hall, which would house the magnificent “Wine For Asia” exposition.

I’d love to tell you that the space was spotless and oozing distillery whiffs of freshly bottled Sauvignon Blancs and unmistakable Shiraz, but I cannot. The space more closely resembled a bee hive with frantic, organized activity and a buzz of some latent extraordinary expectation. A warm hanger filled with carpet shavings, staples. cardboard boxes, brochures, and material cuttings.

The Wine Lovers designated booth area was perfectly situated – near to the entrance and visually accessible.

The hours soon turned to magnificence as the stalls took on their individual ‘display’ status and perfection. Daniel, BK, Hau, Christine and Pete unwrapped, unpacked, hung, cut, sorted, arranged and rearranged the Wine Lovers booth until we felt proud that our stall was perfect and memorable.

All was set and ready for the trade buyers due the following day. Then the ice boxes, trays of clean wine glasses and wine arrived! We had sampled various specimens soon after our precious cargo touched Singaporean shores, so had absolute confidence in the undeniable quality of our selected wines.

Our neighbouring booth was French wines from the Bordeaux region, opposite were Spanish offerings and across the hall an assortment of the finest Australian, Italian, USA, Georgian, German wines would be on show. The joy of being able to introduce our cherished and selected South African products was priceless.
